Say It Ain't So-6 People Who Don't But Should Have A Tony

Hello again all my wonderful readers! It’s another day closer to Tony day so that means it is time for another Tony week post!

There are always those actors and creative team members that you always think have won a Tony Award, but then you Wikipedia them or go on Playbill Vault and find out that they haven’t won a Tony yet. You’re jaw drops and you go “WHHHAT?!!?” Here’s a list of some of the stars who haven’t (but should) have a Tony to put on their mantel or in their dressing room.

Kelli O’Hara
A five-time Tony nominee, including her nod for this years Bridges of Madison County(which closed WAY too early if you ask me). You would think that she has already won at least once since her work is just extraordinary. Hopefully this year five times is the charm right?!

Stephen Schwartz
A six-time Tony nominee and best known in the community for writing the music for Wicked, Pippin and Godspell. He wrote the mega-hit Defying Gravity and it understandably comes to a shock to most people when they find out he hasn’t taken home Tony gold yet. I say give the man a Tony he deserves it!

Stephanie J. Block
A former Elphaba with the pipes to match this woman is a bonafide Broadway diva in her own right. Consistently putting out quality and Tony worthy work, the actress got her first nomination last year for her performance in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. It’s about time that we give her a Tony medallion-we’ve been holding out for far too long.

Jan Maxwell
Probably one of the biggest surprises. Ms.Maxwell has been nominated five times and in every acting category might I mention, including two nominations in the same year. She needs to come back to Broadway soon- it’s time to taste victory!

Brian d’Arcy James
He is one of the most well-known and versatile theater performers in theater today. A two-time nominee he’s got quite the resume and has done everything from Titanic to the ogre Shrek it’s surprising that Tony winner isn’t on there.

Celia Keenan-Bolger

A three-time nominee counting this year’s recognition for her turn as Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie it feels like this is her year to take her well deserved and earned Tony
