In the first episode of season 2 local blogger Jacob Ben Israel gets us all caught up on what the glee club did this summer-by asking them questions based on rumors about the actors! Finn and Rachel are together (yay!) as well as Mike and Tina. We then see the glee club in their famous choir room only to find out that Matt has transferred and new members are needed. In an attempt to get new members the club sings a rendidtion of "Empire State Of The Mind." A new football coach, Coach Beiste has come to Mckinley and wants to cut the budgets of glee and the Cheerios, making Sue and Will join forces to bring her down. Rachel has a new rival in the form of a foregin exchange student Sunshine. The two sing Telephone when Rachel asks Sunshine to join glee club and the girls raw talent is a threat to Rachel. We also meet Finn's new protegee and future rival, football player Sam who has a great set of pipes. With help from Finn, Artie attempts to join the football team so he can win Tina back(he was a bad bf this summer, with his video game marathon) a move that gets Finn kicked off the team a replaced by Sam, leadng Finn to try out for the Cheerios. Quinn gets her spot on the Cheerios back after Sue discovers that Santana got plastic surgery over the summer. A jealous and intimidated Rachel sends Sunshine to a crack house, a move that gets her into big trouble. Mr.Shue turns on Sue who calls Vocal Adrenaline who gladly take the taleneted Sunshine. The episode ends with a beautiful version of "What I Did For Love" from A Chrous Line sung by Rachel.
All in all, I loved this episode! From the song selections to the dialoge it was all great! I absolutly loved Rachels conversation with Sunshine in the bathroom and Brittany's line "People thought that I went on vacation but I really was stuck in the sewers." I also loved the bit of Finchelness at the end! One part that stood out was Sue talking to Santana about her plastic surgery telling Santana that she shouldn't have done it but in Sue fashion of course! It really shows that this show embraces accepting who you are.
